what is "da dark dada-ist"

16/12/2024

Picture

dada emerged as a direct response to the horrors of world war 1,
the spanish flu pandemic, and an ignorant society dominated by bourgeoisie, nationalists, and fascists. it combined visual arts, poetry, performance, sound, and experimental film to challenge traditional aesthetics, inspiring music genres like noise, ambient noise, musique concrète, and their
experimental descendants.

in many ways, dada can be seen as the grand granddad of pop art,
techno and modern electronic music.

now, over 100 years later , we face a strikingly similar situation.
(covid / ukraine / gaza / lebanon / syria / the orange clown ...)
the deconstruction of forms and absurdity at the heart of dada feel more relevant than ever.

dada offers a way to laugh at the absurdity of the world instead of
sinking into despair. laughing instead of complaining / crying.
because "jammern ist out" (liquid sky cologne hoodie design, 2001).

in "da dark dada-ist", multimedia artist dr. walker invites the audience on a wild ride through dangerous soundscapes,

futuristic acid, badass glitch beats, and dada lyrics laced
with dark druggy anarchic humor.

"da dark dada-ist"
the perfect hypnotic soundtrack for the phunky zombie apocalypse.

also available as subscription (27 tracks per month)
with tons of extras.

what is the liquid sky artistcollective

13/12/2024

Picture
the liquid sky artistcollective was founded in 1986 in são paulo by
claudia rey and carlos "soul" slinger, as a direct response to the
infamous liquid sky cult movie.

this groundbreaking film combined experimental fashion, bold makeup, cutting-edge visual effects (using video synthesizers), electronic music, sci-fi, and horror
into a radically new artistic vision. inspired by this ethos,
the liquid sky collective embraced a similar fusion of fashion, music, and
multimedia art, all rooted in the principles of dada.

in 1989, claudia and carlos moved to new york city, where they opened a
cult fashion & lifestyle shop in manhattan.
by the 1990s, liquid sky had become one of the defining movements
in the rave and club culture of the united states.

dr. walker joined the liquid sky family in the early 1990s, bringing the
liquid sky energy to europe by the mid-90s.

he established with thomas thorn liquid sky cologne, an experimental
"everything is different" sofa techno club,
and later expanded to crete and berlin.

today, the liquid sky europe headquarters are located in southern alentejo, portugal,
surrounded by the liquid sky reforestation project, an extension of the
collective's dedication to creativity, experimentation, and sustainability.

what is djungle fever

Picture
djungle fever is an experimental music label founded by dr walker 1993 in
cologne, germany,
known for pushing the boundaries of electronic and underground club music.

the label focuses on bold, genre-defying bad ass sounds, with an emphasis on
(industrial) acid, experimental techno, ambientnoise,
and dada-inspired dark sonic landscapes.

since its inception, djungle fever has become a platform for unorthodox artists,
blending cutting-edge electronic production with avant-garde concepts.

much like its name suggests, djungle fever thrives on chaotic, raw,
and untamed energy and humor,
capturing the wild unpredictable spirit of underground club culture.

as part of the liquid sky artistcollective ecosystem, djungle fever continues to innovate,
creating a space where experimental brain FKK muzzikkk can flourish
while challenging conventional norms.

in chaos it all started
in chaos it will end.

why this release

13/12/2024

Picture

a dark world drowning in war, fascism, ignorance
and money-sharking needs an antidote:
da dark dada-ist
overwhelming  527 tracks,
27 hours 27 minutes and 27 seconds
of
dada acid, dada pop, dada rap, and dada noise & nonsense
raw, imperfect, and unapologetic.

the purest form of brain FKK muzzikkkk.

because algorithms hate chaos,
and chaos laughs about algorithms.

this isn’t just an album. it’s a glitch in the matrix,
a celebration of nothing and everything.
an elixir for a world gone numb,
a soundtrack for raving thru the
zombie apocalypse.
with luv.

because of you, because of me, because of us.

why 527 tracks

13/12/2024

Picture
because 42 didn’t answer the question.
because 526 said no, and 528 was too shy.
because 5+2+7 equals chaos in the universal jukebox.

because counting is for accountants,
and this is dada – we stopped counting at 527.

because the algorithm choked,
because your playlists cried for mercy,
because too much is just enough.

because brain FKK only fkkz the brainz
when it FKKz the brainz. fo real.

and also its not 527 - its 550 or maybe more - or maybe less.....
who knows - who can even count that far?!

expect the unexpected.
dada acid melting into dada pop,
glitch beats stomping over ambient noise,
industrial echoes crashing into absurdist scifi techno.

it’s a wild collage of dirty soundscapes,
an odyssey of noise and tonal fragments:
dangerous, futuristic, ridiculous.
a chaotic symphony of dada phrrrreak poems and nonsense,
sprinkled with dark humor and bit-reduced druggy beauty.

welcome to our distorted view
on the disturbing reality.

what does the integration of Dada mean to Acid / Techno / Ambient / Noise

13/12/2024

Picture
dada means breaking the rules.
it means ripping apart the expected structures
of acid, techno, ambient, hiphop, disco and noise,
and reassembling them into something absurd, chaotic, and raw.

dada destroys worlds
the worlds of how we see, hear, and feel music.

it shatters club tunes into experimental theater pieces,
turns sampling artifacts and big-city noise
into dancefloor anthems.

it’s singing about not-singing.
it’s dancing to the undanceable.

dada transforms these genres into a
playground of sonic rebellion.

it laughs at the seriousness of music.
it mocks the need for perfection.

the music styles we know and love become canvases for
absurdity, chance, and dark humor.

music that doesn’t just sound different,
but questions why it exists at all.

in the end, dada doesn’t "fit" into these genres:
its a virus and mutates their dna.

the result:
something uniquely broken and beautifully free.

what instruments were used to record these traxxx

13/12/2024

Picture
*** this chapter is for the gear nerds only***

the main instrument for this production was ableton live suite,
my go-to tool for music production
(though not my choice for jam sessions).

with the push 2/3 controllers, ableton transforms into a complete production setup, perfect for layin down both traditional tracks
and experimental pieces.

i avoid being a "vst jockey", instead i focus on a select few softsynths and effects rather than drowning in
dozens or hundreds of plugins.

software weapons of choice:
  • d16: the 303 / 808 / 909 and lush2
  • ninja tune: zen delay virtual
  • arturia: e II / jupiter8 / fragments / motions
  • sonic charge: permut8
  • native instruments: ashlight / pharlight / playbox / traktor4
  • (yes. traktor as production tool - great to re-arrange the
  • experimental vocals and noises)
  • sugar bytes: effectrix2 / graindad
  • softube: weiss compressor / eq / deesser
  • valhalla: reverb
  • ableton native plugins: drumbus, eq8, delay, reverb, glue compressor, autopan

i don’t master my tracks, but i keep the
weiss eq and compressor
in the master channel. always.
during the creative phase, they’re bypassed,
but in the later stages, i switch them on to refine the
overall sound.

hardware highlights:
  • erica synths syntrx: killer for analog noises and glitches.
  • sequential pro3se: fantastic for mono synth voices with a "normal" touch.
  • asm hydrasynth: excellent for creating dark, dangerous zombie atmospheres, especially with the zen delay.
  • erica synths dada noise system: perfect for massively fkk’ing up loops, drums, and vocals.
  • liquid sky ufo system: exceptional for techno basslines, aggressive sequences, and glitch/random sounds.

drum machines:
  • erica synths perkons: amazing for
  • dark, deep, bad-ass drum sounds.
  • teenage engineering ko2: a fun, fast beat production tool.
  • ableton move: small display, but solid and intuitive
  • for quick results.
  • ableton push3 standalone: my favorite for beat production,
  • both live and in the studio.

experimental gear:
special shout-out to error instruments for their crazy,
innovative boxes, effects, and modules. paul's designs are
pure madness in the best way possible.

for example, layering a 303 bassline with error instruments
adds glitches and weird noises to the acid core.
the result? powerful sub-bass with completely
new elements on top. a perfect balance of classic acid
and nu skool experimental sound design.

the basic rule for production is: don't overthink it, just do it.
fast n dirty.

some words about "AI" in music & film production

12/12/2024

Picture
yes, i use ai software for music production and creating video art,
and i don’t see anything dishonorable about
leveraging these technologies.
of course, i’m not just "writing 5 words, letting the
ai compute something, and then publishing it."

ai tools can be used in various ways:

lalal.ai is great for separating stems, for example, when remixing
or creating dolby atmos mixes from tracks that only exist
as stereo files.

udio.com can render tracks into four stems, which you can then rework directly in udio or use in tools like traktor4,
which is fantastic for quickly rearranging and transforming
ai stems into something completely new.

think of ai-generated music as your personal
never-ending sample library,
ready to be shaped and customized.

for vocals,
suno.ai is incredible, especially if, like me, you can’t sing.
i still sing
into suno, correct the text, and create
custom vocal models that can be saved and reused.

suno can also export individual vocal stems.

while suno currently delivers better sound quality,
udio often creates
more unique and experimental results.

my advice?

approach ai with childlike curiosity and a spirit of experimentation.
find your own creative path with these tools.
they’re here to enhance, not replace,
the art of making music, art-creation, noise and film.
